Results : Among 116 subjects, 37,1% had psychopathology with depression as the most common psychopatology (44.2%). Most respondents used religion as their coping mechanism (46,6%). The coefficient correlation between psychopathology and mechanism of coping was r=0,292 and p=0,001. Conclusion : There was a significant difference with positive correlation between psychopathology and mechanism of coping. Respondents without psychopathology usually used religion coping mechanism whereas respondents with psychopathology often used religion and self blame coping. A comprehensive management in female with HIV/AIDS can be done by early detection of their psychopathology and coping mechanism.

Proportion of adolescent with good knowledge after the campaign was given, increased significantly into 98,6% (p=0,000), and there was an increase of pretest score, from 57,23 (SD 20,4) and posttest score was 84 (IQR 8). There was correlation between level of knowledge and negative attitude ( spearman’s rho= -0,543, p=0,000). Conclusion : Social campaign effectively increase level of knowledge of adolescent, and level of knowledge is correlated with negative attitude of adolescent toward HIV/AIDS.

Abstract

Introduction : Amoebic liver abscess is a manifestation of extra-intestinal amoebiasis which is caused by Entamoeba histolytica infection. Patients with amoebic liver abscess usually have elevated liver function test results that will prolong the hospital stay. The aim of this study is to correlate liver dysfunctions and duration of hospital stay inamoebic liver abscess patients. Methods : This was a correlative analytic cross-sectional study. The participants of this study were patients diagnosed with amoebic liver abscess in Atma Jaya Hospital from January 2014 to December 2017. The length of stay and the liver function test result swere observed and analyzedusing Spearman correlation test. Results : There were 16 patients diagnosed as amoebic liver abscess, which 15 of them were male, with average age of 44.56 years old. The average length of stay was 10 days. Enlarged liver was found in 87.5% of the patients. The average AST, ALT, Alkaline phosphatase, and gamma-GT were 34 U/L, 60.63 U/L, 184.82 U/L, and 176.17 U/L respectively. The liver function test results and length of stay had neither normal distribution nor significant correlationusing Spearman correlation test. Conclusion : There is no significant correlation between liver function test results and length of hospital stay in patients with amoebic liver abscess.

Abstract

Introduction : Purple sweet potato is variant of sweet potatoes and it haveantocyanin pigment that working as antioxidant. This study aims to observe the protective effect of purple sweet potatoes against free radical damage that occurs after strenuous physical activity. Method : This experimental study was conducted on 24 male mice type Balp/C divided into 4 group with randomized control group post-test only design. Histologic examination of the liver cells was done to see the picture of cell necrosis. Statistical analysis used in this study is anova, to know the difference in the number of cells undergoing necrosis in each group. Result : The result of this study shows that the average number of cells undergoing necrosis in high physical activity group (0,667) is bigger than control group (0,00). The average number of cells undergoing necrosis in maximum physical activity group, given purple sweet potato extract (0,167) is lower than group without purple sweet potato extract (0,667), p<0.05. Conclusion : Purple sweet potato could reduce the necrosis in liver cell caused by free radical after maximum physical activity

Abstract

Adventitial bursitis in the plantar aspect of the first metatarsal heads is characterized by abrupt onset of localized deep and discomfort in the plantar aspect of the first metatarsal head aggravated by walking. Diagnosis of adventitial bursitis is difficult to be established based solely on clinical findings, conventional radiography does not allow diagnosis of soft-tissue disorders especially bursitis. Musculoskeletal ultrasound is a useful imaging modalities to support the clinical diagnosis of soft tissue disorders such as bursitis. To our knowledge, sonographic findings of adventitial bursitis have been rarely reported. Here we present a case report of a patient with pain in the plantar aspect of the left first metatarsal head.

Abstract

Introduction : Intestinal parasite infections are a major health problem in developing countries, especially in children often causing mortality and morbidity. The main cause of intestinal parasite infection is a soil-borne worm called soil-transmitted helminths (STH), the roundworm (Ascaris lumbricoides), the whipworm (Trichuris trichiura) and the hookworm (Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus). Strategy recommended by World Health Organization (WHO) to control it was first focused on school aged children, now preschool-aged children also become one of the high-risk populations of the disease. Therefore it is important to know the risk factors of soil-transmitted helminthiasis in pre-school children.
